The best games of 2021 by Tiga – technical rewards

If you are a real gamer, you are certainly aware of the rewards given by prestigious gaming organisations and communities not only for the engagement of games and their plot but also for their technical features. Tiga has such rewards as well. Each year, the judges are looking for the games with the best audio effects, the highest quality of visual design as well as for the most creative games. This article will tell you more about these rewards. Here, you will also learn which games were chosen as the best ones under these categories.

The game with the best visual design according to Tiga

Visual design is generally one of the most vital parts of any game regardless of its genre. That is why, the judges of Toga are considering the quality of visual design for any type of a game they are assessing. Yet, as you can imagine, sometimes it might happen that for particular genres, there are games better than some game with an absolutely outstanding visual design. Certainly, such a game deserves a reward for its visual part.

Generally, the judges of Tiga are looking at the imagination of the artists working on the visual design of games and of course, on their creativity. It is crucial for them to make the game experience even more exciting.

The shortlist of the games under the category and the winner

In 2021, there were seven games with a particularly appealing visual design. These games were Wales Interactive & Good Gate Media: Night Book, Codemasters: F1 2021, Team17 (publisher) and Navegante Entertainment (developer): Greak: Memories of Azur, Kwalee: Eternal Hope, Supermassive Games: The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, Sony Interactive Entertainment: Returnal and Sony Interactive Entertainment/Insomniac Games: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Note that Supermassive Games: The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope was already chosen as the best social game.

The winner of the reward was Sony Interactive Entertainment: Returnal.

The game with the best audio design

The criteria for the choice of the game with the best audio design is the quality of the sound itself as well as its creative part. The way the sound effects of a game can enhance the game experience of players is also crucial.

The games under this category on the shortlist of Tiga this year were Team17 (publisher) and Black Matter (developer): Hell Let Loose, Codemasters: DIRT 5, Sumo Newcastle:  Hood: Outlaws & Legends, Lo-Fi People: Blind Drive, Square Enix: NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, Space Ape Games: Beatstar – Touch Your Music and SPECTRUM48: OCO.

The best VR/AR game

It is also crucial to note there is a separate reward given by Tiga to the games based on the VR/AR technology which is becoming more and more popular. Games of all possible genres can take part in the competition for this award, however, they all have to be based on this exact technology of game development. The best game is chosen primarily using the criterion of innovation and creativity.
