The classic point-and-click adventure has been going from strength to strength these past few years, largely due to a rise in small independent outfits getting into the genre. The episodic Journeys of Reemus series has been a much-loved fixture of Newgrounds and other flash game portals these past few years, and the pot-bellied bug-slayer and his blue bear buddy Liam have accrued enough fame, respect and puzzles to venture forth in their first commercial adventure, available now via Desura. Launch trailer after the break.

Update: The game is also available via Indiecity, too.

Released under the ‘Click Shake Games’ banner, rather than the usual Zeebarf brand, and priced at $10 or regional equivalent, The Ballads of Reemus seems to be a new story-arc, happening separately from the gradually unfolding Journeys series that’s still continuing in free flash format. Full voice-acting and a higher animation budget in particular seem to be what makes this new franchise entry stand out from the previous games. Apparently it’s a fair few hours long, and if previous entries in the series are any indication, there’s probably some alternate routes and solutions to be found.

We’ll hopefully be digging into this one a little more for a full review sometime, but if you’re already a big fan of the free games to date, ten bucks doesn’t seem like an unreasonable price tag for a larger, more polished standalone adventure.
