<p>Well, what do we have here? Thanks to Microsoft&#8217;s new Xbox.com website, it appears that some choice information has been revealed to us. With the old website, the system would merely update itself every few hours and the &#8220;top games&#8221; would change depending on who was buying what at that time. While that area remains unchanged, they&#8217;ve added a new section in which we can now see what they best selling games of all time were.</p>
<p>Now, before I start the list you should know a couple things:</p>
<ol>
<li>I don&#8217;t know the exact sales numbers, Xbox.com doesn&#8217;t share that.</li>
<li>This is actually a pretty depressing list given the quality of most of these titles.</li>
</ol>
<p>So, yeah, let&#8217;s explore the best selling Xbox Live Indie Games, starting with #10:</p>
<p><strong>Headshot</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Headshot001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14694" title="Headshot001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Headshot001.jpg" alt="Headshot001" width="500" height="282" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Not a huge surprise,<em> Headshot</em> was, realistically, the first Xbox Live Indie Game I noticed when it was released. If you don&#8217;t really know what the game is, it&#8217;s basically a simply find the target and kill em before the timer runs out. Simple, mindless fun where you kill people.</p>
<p>Oh but I am surprised that <em>Headshot</em> has sold more than <em>Headshot 2</em> which, by all accounts, is a much better game.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Headshot/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025855028b" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Try Not To Fart</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/TryNottoFart001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14695" title="TryNottoFart001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/TryNottoFart001.jpg" alt="TryNottoFart001" width="500" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>One of the more crass games on the XBLIG channel,<em> Try Not To Fart</em> is a fairly simplistic game where you simply have to press the buttons in the right order as they get shown. Of course, who doesn&#8217;t love a good fart right?</p>
<p>While we&#8217;re on that note, by the way, who the hell farts that much? If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, get yourself to a doctor.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Try-Not-To-Fart/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550541" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Avatar Showdown</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarShowdown001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14696" title="AvatarShowdown001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarShowdown001.jpg" alt="AvatarShowdown001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Now I haven&#8217;t actually played this game yet as I tend to avoid any XBLIG game with the word &#8220;avatar&#8221; in the title. That said, judging from the screenshots it looks like a fighting game with your avatars, and, at the end of the day, who doesn&#8217;t want to watch themselves kick the crap out of somebody else?</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Avatar-Showdown/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550452" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Avatar Golf</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarGolf001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14697" title="AvatarGolf001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarGolf001.jpg" alt="AvatarGolf001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Again, this is another game that I&#8217;ve not actually played myself, but, what I can gather from title and screenshot is that it&#8217;s a game about golfing with your avatar. Actually, it really doesn&#8217;t look that bad, and given the review rating I&#8217;d say this might actually be a fairly comparable golfing game.</p>
<p>Too bad I hate golfing.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Avatar-Golf/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585502d8" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>RC-AirSim</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/RCAirSim001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14698" title="RCAirSim001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/RCAirSim001.jpg" alt="RCAirSim001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Not much to say here that&#8217;s not already explained in the title and screenshot. Basically, it&#8217;s a remote control plane simulator. You take off and fly around for a bit and then land. Not sure if there are any goals or not.</p>
<p>I will say that I&#8217;m quite surprised that this is so high up on the list. I mean, it&#8217;s certainly not the most exciting game.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/RC-AirSim/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550171" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Avatar Paintball</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarPaintball001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14699" title="AvatarPaintball001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarPaintball001.jpg" alt="AvatarPaintball001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Yet another Avatar-inspired game. I&#8217;m quite surprised so many have made the top 10.</p>
<p>In any case, <em>Avatar Paintball </em>is a game that&#8217;s pretty much exactly what it sounds like: arena styled online multiplayer paintball matches with your Avatar. That&#8217;s it.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Avatar-Paintball/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550532" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>The Impossible Game</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/TheIMpossibleGame001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5975" title="TheIMpossibleGame001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/TheIMpossibleGame001.jpg" alt="TheIMpossibleGame001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Now this is a game that&#8217;s truly worthy of being in the top 10 (not to say that some of the others weren&#8217;t). <em>The Impossible Game</em> is a fantastic game that has you going through a pre-set course of obstacles where if you hit anything you have to start over from the beginning.</p>
<p>The challenge with the game is that it actually takes a lot of mental endurance to remember when and where to jump and avoid certain obstacles.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/The-Impossible-Game/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025855037e" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Avatar Drop</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarDrop001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14700" title="AvatarDrop001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/AvatarDrop001.jpg" alt="AvatarDrop001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Again with the Avatar games, this one, if you can believe it, is the simplest most non0game of them all. Each level starts off with you &#8220;dropping&#8221; your avatar down some odd level with balls and rings. The point is to get your avatar to hit various rings and get a higher score.</p>
<p>Honestly, there&#8217;s really not much to this &#8220;game.&#8221; I would actually liken it more to an interactive screensaver than an actual game, but apparently somebody likes it as it&#8217;s made it fairly high on this list.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Avatar-Drop/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585502da" target="_blank">Avatar Drop</a>]</p>
<p><strong>Baby Maker Extreme</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/BabyMakerExtreme001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14701" title="BabyMakerExtreme001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/BabyMakerExtreme001.jpg" alt="BabyMakerExtreme001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;m just going to go on record as saying: I&#8217;ve never played this game and I have no idea what it&#8217;s about aside from making babies apparently. I guess, at some point, I should probably give it a try though considering it&#8217;s obvious popularity by making it to the second top spot in only a few months time. Very impressive.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Baby-Maker-Extreme/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585504ae" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p><strong>I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMaed001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14702" title="IMaed001" src="http://www.diygamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMaed001.jpg" alt="IMaed001" width="500" height="281" /></a></strong></p>
<p>No surprise here as I think we all know that <em>I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 </em>success has been well documented over the last year or so. At last count I believe James had sold over 300,000 copies, had his song on the Rock Band Network, and had a shirt available for sale in Hot Topic. Very impressive for such a simplistic game.</p>
<p>[<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/I-MAED-A-GAM3-W1TH-Z0MB1ES-1/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585502a6" target="_blank">Buy/Try</a>]</p>
<p>Well that&#8217;s it. Those are the ten best selling Xbox Live Indie Games ever. I&#8217;d be remiss if I didn&#8217;t point out that coming in at number 11 was <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Rumble-Massage/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550179" target="_blank"><em>Rumble Massage</em></a>.</p>
<p>Also some other notable releases that didn&#8217;t make it to the top 10:</p>
<p>12. Headshot 2<br />
15. Beat Hazard<br />
16. Miner Dig Deep<br />
23. Kodu Game Lab<br />
24. Inside Lacrosse&#8217;s CL2010</p>
<p>So, yeah, interesting stuff. Were you surprised by anything?</p>
