RedLynx has opened up a teaser page for its untitled new project. The idea of a game that lasts 1,000 days is pretty intriguing. For those gamers that want a lot of bang for their buck, 1,000 days sounds like a great return on investment, as well. RedLynx has some strong clout to back up this claim, having released a ton of daily content for Trials HD on XBLA.
Check out the teaser trailer below:
To recap what’s been revealed:
- A New Adventure Every Day for 1,000 Days
- Explore 1,000 Levels
- Guide 1,000 Heroes
- Gather 1,000 Relics
- Coming Soon to iPhone and iPad
“There is time line inside all of us,” said Antti Ilvessuo, Creative Director of RedLynx. “A past that guides us, ancestors whom time may have forgotten, but whose choices influence us even today. This game takes these ideas, and plays with them in a fun and engaging way.”

Redlynx has announced via press release that their very popular physics-based stunt title Trials HD will be getting the new content packed “Big Thrills” expansion.
The expansion packs 40 new levels from the developer themselves, along with 10 of the best user-created tracks available for the game. That’s 50 new tracks in all, amazing stuff given the base game contains 35 tracks.
The community ten mentioned before will be picked from entries submitted to Redlynx’s level creation contest. A $5,000 grand prize is up for grabs, with all winners earning prizes and in-game credit as well as getting their creations included in the game of course.
“Big Thrills” will arrive for Xbox 360 via XBLA in Q4 of this year.
You know, we may gush an awful lot here at DIY HQ about our love of the Xbox Live Indie Games channel, but, truth is, there was another channel before and it continues to be a place where a number of prominent indie games continue to call home, that service being the Xbox Live Arcade.
Today the Forecasting and Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE) group have announced that April was a very good month for both XBLA and the indie games that live amongst the big boys on the channel.
Overall, XBLA has grown 7% in 2010, over 2009. In April, the service has grown 11% partly due to an “inventory blowout sale.” But also because as the service matures there are, obviously, more and more games that appeal to more types of gamers.
Here are the top 10 games for the month of April by revenue:
• Toy Soldiers (Signal Games) – 53,000 Units ($15.00 USD)
• Trials HD (RedLynx) – 42,000 Units ($15.00 USD)
• Perfect Dark (4J Games) – 49,000 Units ($10.00 USD)
• Castle Crashers (The Behemoth) – 29,000 Units ($15.00 USD)
• Mega Man 10 (Capcom) – 37,000 Units ($10.00 USD)
• Battlefield 1943 (EA Dice) – 22,000 Units ($15.00 USD)
• Final Fight: Double Impact (Capcom) – 32,000 Units ($10.00 USD)
• Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Capcom) – 21,000 Units ($15.00 USD)
• Family Game Night (Hasbro) – 29,000 Units ($10.00 USD)
• After Burner Climax (SEGA) – 22,000 Units ($10.00 USD)
Notice that of the top four games, three of them are indie games: Toy Soldiers, Trials HD, and Castle Crashers. Also note that the list is arranged not by total sales, but by total sales times the purchase price. This is a revenue chart, not necessarily a sales chart, which explains why Trials HD, for example, came in ahead of Perfect Dark despite the latter selling more.
While the service may be dominated by larger games and game companies, it’s still nice to see smaller indie games continuing to push the channel and offer games that aren’t simple rehashes from games that have already been sold years passed (see: Perfect Dark, Mega Man 10, Battlefield 1943, Final Fight: Double Impact, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Family Game Night).
Nominations for Spike TV’s Video Game Awards 2009 have been announced, included in the awards again is the Best Independent Game (apparently fueled by Mtn Dew) with this year’s four finalists being Twisted Pixel’s ‘Splosion Man, Hemisphere’s Osmos, RedLynx’s Trials HD and thatgamecompany’s Flower.
You can vote for your favorite here. Spike’s VGA 2009 takes place December 12, where the winners will be announced.
Last year 2DBoy’s World of Goo beat out other top indie’s Braid, Pixeljunk Eden and Audiosurf for the award.
