Sacraboar Gets Price Cut and New Content

Sacraboar_Price_Cut_Update

Steam alerts us to a new update for Makivision’s quite excellent boar-capping strategy game Sacraboar, available now for owners automatically through the Steam client.

The patch includes some big additions including a flock of new bonus missions and over 50 achievements, as well as Steam Cloud and multi-monitor support:

  • 10 new Bonus missions
  • 51 Steam Achievements
  • Steam Cloud support
  • Multi-Monitor support

Also, my good eye noticed the game is now running just $9 on Steam, GamersGate and Impulse, that’s $11 less than what was believed to be the current price of the game–no sale, special offer or anything. There’s been zip as far as a dev blog post or a press release about a price cut or otherwise; so either someone dropped the announcement ball or they’re relying on the always questionable “do something awesome and don’t tell anyone about it” tactic.

Geoff stated in his Sacraboar review that at $20, the game was worth it for RTS enjoy’ers. I’m sure at less than half of that price he’d recommend it to most everyone. Haven’t stolen a boar yet? Check out the demo here (also available in German.)

Indie Weekend Sales: The Mother Load

Indie-SalesIt’s an unusually fantastic weekend for indie sales, what’s unusual for us is that it all comes from one outlet. Yes, Steam is having one of its semi-annual blowout sales that sees the vast majority of games in the digital distributor’s catalog discounted somewhere between nice and blatantly absurd, including over 60 indie offerings. Let’s highlight some of the biggest and best, as well as some of the other sites (yes, there are other sales going on this weekend.) Another thing to note about the Steam sales, these go through the 4th of July, but there are also ridiculously cheap daily deals that we’ll have to miss here, though I must mention Galcon Fusion for $2.50 until tomorrow morning!

Out of the many offerings available, Sacraboar at 90% off would seem to take the cake, the well received $20 tile is now $2. Altitude is 66% off at $3.40, AI War carries the same 66% discount as does its expansionChains is 75% off at just $1.24, Invent4′s Bad Rats: the Rats Revenge is $0.95 down from $5. Puzzle game Quantz is $2.50 down from $10, Super Laser Racer is $1.25, the list goes on.

Looking to save a bundle on a bundle? Steam’s offering several at big discounts including:

Introversion Complete Pack for $5 (87% off) – Packs Darwinia, Multiwinia, Uplink and Defcon.

Action Indie Pack for $6.24 (75% off) – Packs Larva Mortus, Penguins Arena: Sedna’s World, RIP – Trilogy, Space Trader: Merchant Marine and Tank Universal.

Puzzle Indie Pack for $3.74 (75% off) – Packs Chains, Gumboy – Crazy Adventures, Obulis and Vigil: Blood Bitterness.

Northern Lights Indies for $20 (64% off) – Packs Blueberry Garden, Bob Came in Pieces, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Plain Sight and Saira. That’s a quality bundle of games right there.

Summer Indie Action Pack for $20 (60% off) – Packs Aaaah! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, Gridrunner Revolution, Metal Drift, Starscape and Zombie Driver.

Maybe most importantly Steam also offers 50% off on almost every big indie title you can think of over the past couple of years with titles including (just to name a few): Machinarium, Zeno Clash, Trine, Cogs, Eufloria, Gratuitous Space Battles, Time Gentleman/Ben There, Dan That and much more. If you were waiting for any of the various titles we mention on this site to go down in price its more than worth your time to browse through the list and pick up some wonderful games at amazing prices.

Impulse carries a lone independent sale with Zoetrope Interactive’s Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage for $18 instead of its standard $30, a 40% discount.

Direct2Drive also gets in the mix with Kerberos Productions Fort Zombie for 75% off, bringing the title down to $2.50.

‘Sacraboar’ Worldwide Release Planned

SacraboarMakivision Games Sacraboar has received all sorts of acclaim. Even our own editor, Geoff Gibson, enjoyed the majority of elements in the real-time strategy title. The fantasy game has earned itself a worldwide release and sports bonuses in its retail version. It will contain brand new missions and a copy of the game’s soundtrack.

As a real-time strategy game which clearly contains some role-playing as well, with the ability to update your units through spells or special abilities. Boasting 90 missions and league- and cup-competitions in its multiplayer mode, Sacraboar will be quite the purchase when it releases sometime in early 2010. However, if you don’t feel like waiting, Sacraboar is already available on GamersGate, Steam, Gameware, and Impulse.

For more info and to try out the demo, check out the game’s official website.

Demo for Sacraboar Available Now

SacraboarEarlier this week we brought you our thoughts on Makivision’s new take on the RTS genre; Sacarboar. Needless to say, it has it’s ups and downs that you can read all about in our review. For those of you who still can’t decide whether you want to shell out some money for it then I have some good news. Makivision has just released a demo of their game so you can try before you buy.

Personally, I think this was a brilliant move on behalf of the developers seeing as how their game offers very unique gameplay. I can definitely see most people wanting to give the whole “Capture the Pig” style of gameplay a test run before they sink their teeth into a full fledged purchase.

Capture the Pig… Sacraboar [Review]

SacraboarIt’s not easy to create an RTS game. Let me rephrase that, it’s not easy to create any game especially RTS games. So it’s always a delight when we get one for review here at the DIY HQ. Last week that game just so happened to be Sacraboar, a little known RTS game being developed in the heart of Germany by Makivision Games. I spent the weekend with Makivision’s unique take on the RTS genre and here are my thoughts.

Sacraboar is definitely an RTS game, no doubt about it. Those who do not enjoy the genre should look elsewhere, however, for those that do enjoy it there may be something here for you. You see, while Sacraboar may be an RTS, it’s not a traditional one. There is no base-building and no army hoarding. This game is almost entirely about actual tactics and strategy. Almost like chess, actually.

Sacraboar Beta Underway

Sacraboar_beta []Makivision has announced that their upcoming RTS Sacraboar has moved into beta and is now available to play for those who have pre-purchased the title. The game pits players against one another in a ‘capture the trophy’ scenario, toting fast paced gameplay with less emphasis on building up and more on the action.

The early beta access ends up being around a week as Sacraboar arrives November 6 on both Steam and Impulse. Pre-orders get 25% off the launch price.

Sacraboar Pre-Orders Begin, Offer Early Beta Access

sacraboar_pre_order_beta_access_discount []Digital distributor Impulse has listed Makivision’s fast paced RTS title Sacraboar as now available for pre-order. Even better, they’re offering beta access to those early birds who throw down for the game before its release on Friday, November 6.Why Friday you ask? Because then you get the whole damn weekend to play. (Seriously, screw Tuesday’s monopoly on game releases.)

Sacraboar has you competing against your opponent to capture each other’s boar trophy, offering nearly 90 missions for single player as well as a multiplayer with all the trimmings. The title looks to pick up the pace of the RTS genre by removing “lengthy and tedious construction phases.”
