Cliff Harris, the one man army behind Gratuitous Space Battles, has spilled some details on an upcoming expansion for his action first space strategy title, along with a patch that will precede the add-on.

He explains that though the add-on release is a good ways out, work for it is underway. He mentions that the introduction of a new race will be the major addition to the game.

Positech Games has released a new update for its straight-to-the-point space strategy title Gratuitous Space Battles, now available on Impulse. The patch brings the game to v1.24, adding a new mouse system for more fluid control, gameplay tweaks and bug fixes.

The complete change log can be looked over by registered users with the View History option in the Impulse client. If you’re interested in the GSB, but haven’t purchased it yet you can get it for a slight discount now on Steam.

An update demo is available as well via FileFront for those who’d like to give it the ol’ once around the block.

Positech Games has announced the release of their space strategy title Gratuitous Space Battles, an RTS/Tower Defense hybrid game that offers colorful, sprawling battles with hundreds of ships at the player’s command. The gameplay starts in the design stage of this ships, from there you position your fleet and give out the pre-battle orders, then you sit back and watch like a proud papa.

GSB has been in beta for a couple of months and now the full release can be picked up now from the dev’s website, a demo is available to try as well.

Interestingly, while the game’s not yet available on Impulse, the $3 off pre-order deal still is, and probably will be until the digital distributor updates the title’s status sometime later today.
