Eschalon Book II Gets Bonus 5 Hour Adventure, 20% Off Sale

Basilisk Games has announced the release of a new content-packed update for its RPG Eschalon Book II, bringing the title to v1.05 and adding a lengthy bonus adventure along with a ton of new improvements and changes to the title.

The patch adds ‘The Secret of Fathamurk’, a five hour bonus adventure set in a secret dungeon that lies beneath the Farrock Caves. The content update is available free to those who own the game, and comes packed full of bug fixes, balance tweaks and other new additions as well.

To celebrate, the game has been given a 20% discount on Steam and Impulse and goes for $20. That’s $5 off the standard $25 price tag through Tuesday, November 9.

From the full change log:

  • Fixed: Magi Surami no longer drops Bluish Key
  • Fixed: Quick-traveling now properly expires all turn-dependent effects
  • Fixed: Rapid turn exploit issues with CTRL + Left Mouse clicking
  • Fixed: Pressing “T” to ignite torch uses a round.
  • Fixed: Picking up an item doesn’t remove its weight from your overall load.
  • Fixed: Avatar clothes updated properly when unequiping items and placing them directly in a container.
  • Fixed: Can no longer swap equipment while Stunned or in Parry Mode
  • Fixed: Can no longer camp atop loot bag.
  • Fixed: Widget no longer shows in Hellice Lake cabin. Also redesigned the cabin to be less wang-like.
  • Fixed: Several NPC portraits and sounds were incorrect.
  • Fixed: A number of minor map bugs.
  • Fixed: A number of minor bugs related to weapon damage.
  • Fixed: Overwhelming Volley throws the proper number of weapons, and will throw all weapons carried if less than maximum volley.
  • Fixed: Entangled creatures can no longer attack you under any circumstances.
  • Fixed: Certain items no longer show as needing repaired even if game is set for “no deterioration of equipment”.
  • Fixed: Items that are at 100% no longer show a 1gp repair cost.
  • Fixed: Powder Kegs no longer disappear if your inventory is full.
  • Fixed: Tweaked Repair Skill (repair while camping) to correct a few anomalies
  • Fixed: Riposte Feat resets properly after one-hit kills.
  • Fixed: Portal Spell now displays anchor point info correctly.
  • Fixed: More typos as reported by players.
  • Fixed: Disarm Trap animation not so slow on Macintosh.
  • Fixed: Hunger/Thrist bug when sleeping at Inn.
  • Fixed: Weight calculation bug when lifting objects from containers and dropping powder kegs.
  • Updated: Changed the wording on the Shield deflection bonus.
  • Updated: Changed Cat’s Eyes spell just a bit. Should work fine under all circumstances.
  • Updated: New Screen Capture function works almost everywhere inside the game.
  • Updated: Edwin no longer accuses you of a crime by just touching the door inside his office.
  • Balance: Starvation and Dehydration damage is now compounded, so the more hungry or thirsty your character is, the more damage he/she endures.
  • Balance: Poison now compounds not only in duration, but amount of trauma as well.
  • Balance: General Ghorr is more powerful, as are some of the other Taurax
  • Balance: Hellbringer Challenge raised to >800 kills.
  • Balance: Wealthy Lord Challenge rasied to >80,000 gp.
  • Added: New map areas, including Fathamurk dungeon beneath the Farrock Caves.
  • Added: Several new Item bonuses
  • Added: You can now pour potions on to the ground (to get an empty flask). Just act like you are throwing a potion away to pour it out.

Eschalon Book II Hits Steam, 10% Off for Launch Week

Eschalon_Book_II_Steam_ReleaseBasilisk Games’ well received open-world RPG Eschalon Book II has launched on Valve’s digital distribution giant Steam for both PC and Mac. Even better, the title has been given a “launch discount” (though not truly its launch) of 10%, or $2.50 off the $25 tag.

The sequel to the award-winning 2007 RPG, Eschalon Book II is set after the province of Thaermore has fallen and threats of full-on war are beginning to boil over. You won’t need to play the first game to understand and enjoy the second of the role-playing trilogy. If you’d like; however, you can purchase ($20) or demo the original Eschalon here.

The slight discount offer ends Monday, July 19. While a Steam demo hasn’t been made available for Book II, the original demo released by the dev can be downloaded via the game’s official site; Linux users can pick up the game there as well.

Eschalon Book II v1.03 Released

Eschalon_June_1_updateBasilisk Games has released a new update for its old-school RPG Eschalon Book II, now available for download both automatically on Impulse and manually via the game’s official site.

The v1.03 patch brings several bug fixes (including odd little ones), tweaks and overall improvements to the role-playing sequel. Highlights include a higher resolution world map and a fix to the way HP and MP were calculated at level up.

The demo version of the title reflects the changes as well. From the change log:

- Fixed several more typos and grammar problems.

- Fixed a rare condition that sometimes caused a crash on map loads (this includes Quick Traveling).

- Fixed an issue where player effect durations over 256 turns long were not beings saved properly.

- Fixed stat display issue on the final score screen, and improved screen layout.

- Encumbrance updated properly after you dump torches.

- Avatar graphics are updated properly if you overcharge an item and destroy it.

- A higher resolution world map is now included with downloadable game.

- Rare crash that happens when your player is facing NW and dies.

- Triggering trap while trying to pick lock properly fails True Thief Challenge.

- Fixed a miscalculation with the way MP and HP are gained at level-up.

- Fixed an odd little bug involving the swapping of rings when multiples of the same kind are involved.

- Updated the premade characters as the previous versions were saved under an old format, causing errors.

Eschalon Book II v1.02 Update Released

The v1.02 patch brings a laundry list of bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and improvements and other additions to the title. Highlights include spell protection working properly against curses, the recipe window displaying properly, fixes for several minor map errors, and much more.

The file is available now via Impulse but can also be downloaded manually via the game’s official site. The demo of the title reflects the new changes as well. From the notes:

- Fixed a “Divide By Zero” error when you get your HP or MP to regenerate at “1 point every 0 rounds.”

- Fixed an “Exception Access Violation” when some creatures neared the edge of the map.

- Last thrown object no longer results in injury if you are unskilled in Unarmed Combat.

- Soul Piercer arrow gives proper damage bonus against ethereal creatures.

- Casting Sunder Flesh no longer crashes game.

- Spell Protection From Curses works properly.

- Spells Mass Boil and Supernova now display proper damage ranges in description.

- Encumbrance stats are properly updated after casting Draw Water.

- Sleeping in bed properly updates weather sounds.

- Combat music properly ends when leveling up, then restarts after exiting editor.

- Recipe window now displays all recipes properly.

- True Healer challenge modified so to not fail during certain events.

- Fixed an issue involving the Masterful Riposte feat and Haste being used together.

- Spell Trapkill works properly on all floor traps.

- Corrected a stat issue that caused some flying creatures to ignore open spaces over chasms and such.

- Fixed a number of grammar and spelling errors.

- Fixed several minor map errors.

- Cleaned up a few graphic anomalies on tiles & sprites.

Eschalon: Book II and Demo Released

Eschalon_Book_II_releasedBasilisk Games has announced the release of its RPG Eschalon: Book II, now available for purchase and download.

The sequel to the award winning Eschalon: Book I takes place after the province of Thaermore has fallen and threats of full-on war are beginning to bubble over. The developer points out that no previous experience is needed to play the title standalone from the original with the title available for PC, Mac and Linux, all DRM free of course.

A demo of the title has also been prepped and released and can be downloaded via the game’s official site, if you enjoy yourself you can unlock the full game by purchasing a key and entering it where the trial version prompts you. The full version runs $25 and grants three copies of the game across the previously mentioned operating systems. From the feature list:
