Robot Entertaiment, the fine folks that brought us Orcs Must Die, has recently released its latest effort Hero Academy onto the App Store (actually has been since just after the turn of the new year). The game is being offered both as a free version with ads and subsequently as a paid version ($0.99) without.
Less than a week has passed since Super Crate Box released on the app store and Vlambeer subsequently challenged players to reach five million on the crate counter to earn a content patch. Well that update has arrived, along with over ten million crates already collected.
Hemisphere Games passes along word that their award-winning ambient title Osmos will arrive on the Android Market on Tuesday, January 17th for $4.99. Apportable, a company that helps iOS developers bring their applications to other platforms, has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the port.
Hitbox Team has finally revealed a release date for their highly anticipated action platformer Dustforce, PC owners will be able to purchase the game January 17th via Steam for $10. Mac owners will have to wait, but only a short bit, before the title is available to them as well through Valve’s distribution service. Great news, right? Hitbox thinks so too, and has let loose a pre-launch trailer to celebrate.
Eyehook Games had one of the better sleeper hits in recent memory with its XBLIG roguelike Cursed Loot (formerly Epic Dungeon), and now they’ve grabbed our attention again with some gameplay footage from their next effort Cursed Cosmos (formerly Azure Void). The game is a step in another direction genre-wise for the developer, who promises a randomly generated galactic trading game with a real-time dynamic economy, real-time space battles, customizable ships, asteroid mining, and more.

Lovely Indie Game Music: SMB’s Choice Piano Cuts, A Musical Journey, and Bastion’s Jam Session
A few notable indies have recently come out with some music-related items that ought to be enjoyed, so I thought it best to pass them along here. Each of these titles have major musical support behind them that goes above and beyond serving the simple purpose of looping audibly in the background during gameplay, and what results from these efforts are sounds so good they stick with you far beyond the point when you put down the controller.
Ron Carmel, one half of 2D Boy, has passed along word that indie darling World of Goo’s iOS version has hit a million downloads since originally arriving on the App Store in April of last year.
A heads-up if you’re a 360 owner looking for an experience similar to the Mario Kart series on your Indie Games channel: Citizen 12 Studio has ported over Pangea Software’s popular iOS Kart Racer Cro-Mag Rally onto XBLIG. Unfortunately, the game’s multiplayer component seems to have been lost in translation.
Gameplay wizards Vlambeer have just passed along word that their popular arcade platformer Super Crate Box has arrived on the App Store (with the assistance of Halfbot), and can be picked up now for the nice little price of $0.99.
