Amnesia: The Dark Descent Gold, Ready for September 8 Release

Amnesia_Gold

Frictional Games has passed along word that their highly-anticipated title Amnesia: The Dark Descent has gone gold. Following up their Penumbra series, Frictional claims to have taken “a giant leap forward compared to our previous games” with the first-person adventure horror game.

Immersion was a primary focus, with atmosphere and story coming first. This will all be aided by the fact that you as the player are almost entirely defenseless from your enemies, which the dev believes “not only makes the game a lot scarier, but also gives a vastly different experience” than what has been seen in the genre previously.

The game will be available on PC, Mac and Linux via the developer itself and “most major online retailers” on September 8 with a $20 price tag attached. From the specs:

  • Windows XP/Vista/7, OS X 10.5.8/10.6.4 or Linux distribution released in 2010.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 6 / ATI Radeon HD.
  • 2.0 Ghz CPU.
  • 2 GB RAM.
  • 2.5 GB Free hard disk space.

Xbox Live Indie Games Releases: August 28, 2010

XBLIG_Releases_DIYGamer

[While our XBLIG Thursday feature fights against the main issue of Xbox 360’s Indie Games channel–gaming brilliance being lost in a sea of medicore titles and cheap apps–as good as anything out there, there’s just too many total releases for us to try them all.

That being said, we can still highlight them on a daily basis, and perhaps posting these new titles will benefit both player and developer by allowing a connection to be made before the game floats on down the river and into the backlogs of the channel. Whether it be an all-time great, a one time play-through or a complete lemon; all will have their chance to speak. Here are today’s releases.]

KALM (80 MS Points)”Run, Double Jump and Shoot Your Way Through Multiple Levels In This Awesome Platformer.”

Extreme Ball (80 MS Points)”You can demonstrate your ability and speed in this incredible game 3D.”
