Our Reviews
Tue. 06 2009 | Geoff GibsonHere at DIYgamer.com we review games. Indie games actually! As such, we have a different sort of review process than what you’d normally expect. First off, we never, ever assign a score to the game. While that system may work for the multi-million dollar blockbusters out there, we don’t necessarily believe it’s fair to do that to an indie game. What you’ll see here is just our honest opinion on the game itself; broken down into four separate categories:
Gameplay
A brief description about the gameplay and what we liked and what we did not like about it. What worked and what did not work.
Style
We do not judge graphics for indie games but rather the style. Was it crude and not created very well? Or was it a fresh and unique view? Judging an indie game solely by graphics means that we would be forced to give a lower opinion to somebody who can’t afford a high-end artist.
Story
Not every game needs a story but it’s a large enough facet of gaming that it needs to be discussed when reviewing a product. Sometimes a game may not have a story at all, in which case this category may be made null.
Everything Else
And finally we come to everything else that wasn’t talked about in the above categories. Here you’ll find information on any unique aspect of the game that doesn’t necessarily fit into above categories like multiplayer and audio.
Finally, when we have something positive to say about the game we’ll let it be known by writing in a BLUE font. And when we have something negative to share we’ll write in a RED font.
I hope this helps clear up our review process a little bit, but should you have any questions regarding it please feel free to email us at: editor.diygamer@gmail.com.
Thanks!
NOTE: We play each game to its fullest before writing our review.
