I’ve mentioned before just how threadbare tower defense’s skin-tight gameplay jeans have been worn, which remains true despite a few additions to the genre. Recent notable defense games have included varying mechanics that allow the player to participate in the mayhem beyond dealing military real estate and the difference in engagement is very palpable. This continues to hold true in the rural areas of the US, where the zombies have once again broken loose to reek havoc upon the homely farmers and their redneck families. This seems to happen with such regularity that it might be worth it to just train the entire populace in zombie killing to suppress outbreaks sooner. To call UBER ZOMBIE USA a tower defense game would be a little bit of a stretch, since the game revolves primarily around the player’s (or players’) avatar(s), who walk and gun using a familiar two-stick shooting setup. Weapons range the stereotypical zombie-killing fair.
