You might have noticed DIYGamer has been undergoing some big changes this past week. Truth of the matter is that this just the tip of the iceberg for good ol’ DIYGamer.com. I can’t spill too many details but needless to say it’s going to be very exciting in the coming weeks/months and I hope that all of DIYGamer’s fans really enjoy what’s coming soon.
Unfortunately, change and progress means exactly that… change. So, it’s with a heavy heart that a bid farewell from DIYGamer as the founder, managing editor and just general indie games writer. With the changes coming soon and a new management crew taking over in the coming days I’ve decided to take this opportunity to explore other facets of my life outside of writing about indie games.
Where will I end up? I have absolutely no idea. I haven’t even decided if I want to keep writing professionally about video games. There’s so much to experience in this world and a lot of that can pass you right on by when you’re writing about it. I’m personally thrilled at the idea of actually playing indie games as simply a gamer. Without the need to write about it afterwards. It feels like it’s been too long since I’ve really just enjoyed my time with one.
I can say that I plan on devoting an amount of my time to the Portland area game developing scene. Helping local developers figure out how to market their games and using my contacts to get them much needed press and attention.
I’ll also be continuing my normal duties with SB Nation covering the Portland Timbers of MLS. For those that are interested.
Finally, I’ve started up a personal blog at Posterous called the World of Tomorrow. I’m still a writer at heart and I get edgy if I don’t jot something down at least every couple days so it should serve as a nice release.
Everybody else can find me at either my Twitter account (@geoffpg) or my Google+ profile.
Goodbye DIY.
