Kot-in-Action Creative Artel is one of the more talented indie studios I’ve seen in recent years. Their Steel Storm series is quite good for a top down shmup that offers a bit of extra depth than what we’re typically used to. Still, I think they’ve outdone themselves with their newest in-development game: Tomes of Mephistopheles (ToM), a game that allows you to just explode your way through obstacles… if the need arises.
Announced last October, Kot-in-Action has seemingly been very busy getting ToM up and running. It’s top the point where after only a few months they are showing off some very impressive terrain destruction, enemy AI and all around graphical capabilities.
The latest update from last week added skeletons to the mix as well as a working HUD for health, mana and spell types.
I’m still not 100% sure on the exact premise of the game, bu according to the developers ToM is hitting alpha very soon which means we might actually get our hands on it if they decide to do an alpha-fund release.
We’ll be keeping up on ToM as more information comes out. In the meantime enjoy the destruction gameplay video below.
