The Pirate Kart was one of the more interesting ideas/games we saw crop up in the IGF’s official entries last year. The idea was simple: create a bunch of games in a 48 hour timeline and then release them to the world in one big package. It caught our attention almost immediately and many of the developers chimed in on our comments to talk about their individual games.
In any case, the organizers of the first Pirate Kart are attempting to do the same thing but instead of submitting it to the IGF they want to get a booth at GDC to talk about it and share what they’ve been able to create in 48 hours. This also means they need a little help by way of Kickstarter.
So here’s the deal:
The guys running the GDC Pirate Kart are looking for $4,000 in order to get a booth at GDC. They’ve got a number of perks which offer games like Galcon Fusion (a good one!) as prizes.
Then during the weekend of February 25th-27th everyone is invited to make as many games as you can possible make and submit them over at Glorious Trainwrecks. When GDC rolls around they’ll have a fancy launcher to show them off and they’ll be released to the general public.
