The Binding of Isaac on the 3DS?

Nintendo must be doing something right this go around because, after shrugging off indie game developers and their entire WiiWare store on the Nintendo Wii they seem to be attracting many more developers with their 3DS eShop. Granted the DSi had quite a few indie games as well, but I don’t believe the DSi ever reached the kind of numbers that the 3DS is capable of given the DS’s fragmentation.

In any case, Edmund McMillen, developer of Binding of Isaac, has stated that:

The only other system you might ever see Isaac on is the 3DS and that will only happen if a company ports the game them selves.

So there are still a few hurdles, but it looks like Edmund is at least open to the idea.

As for me? I think it’s a great idea. The Binding of Isaac just recently won our “Indie Game of the Year” for 2011 and, honestly, the more places it’s available the better.
