Backworlds Brings An Interesting Perspective to Puzzle Platformers

So here’s an interesting puzzle platformer for you guys: Backworlds, a fascinating take on the puzzle platformers that we’ve not yet seen before. Or at least I haven’t. In any case, the game is very unique in the simple way you get through levels by erasing either the front or backworld in order to play on that. Confused? So was I…

Really it’s quite simple. The game is a standard 2D platformer. And in each level you’re presented with a beautiful colorful world that looks as if it were a water color painting. However, this world is not always navigable by your little character so you need to take your brush and erase the front world to reveal the backworld. This allows you access to new areas and sometimes even allows you to walk on the ceilings.

Like I said, it’s quite unique and an interesting take on the puzzle platformer genre. Combine that with some seriously slick graphics and it’s looking like we’ve got a winner upon release.

But don’t take my word for it. The game has a demo available right now on PC/Mac for those who want to check it out. The developers are also looking for a bit of help via an IndieGoGo campaign so if you’re doubly interested you can always contribute there.

Also don’t forget to check out the trailer below.
