3079: A Futuristic RPG, Minecraft-like in Beta

So here’s something I think we can all get on board with, and I promise you that it’s not just another Minecraft clone, although that’s not to say it doesn’t borrow some ideas. In essense, 3079 is very much like the Minecraft we all know and love in aesthetics. The blocks are everywhere and theya re full destructible after all. However, it doesn’t take too long for the differences to show.

Here’s the game’s official description:

3079 is a futuristic, open-world action first-person role playing game. You arrive on a planet experiencing constant war. It is your duty to find out why the warring factions cannot find peace on their own & hopefully restore it yourself. All areas, buildings, items, quests and characters are randomly generated. You will find unique lands & challenges. Think of this game as an original game combining Fallout and Minecraft. I hope you enjoy it!

Fallout combined with Minecraft. That’s a bold description, to say the least. But, fortunately, not entirely inappropriate.

3079 is available right now, via Desura or the developers website, for $8.99 while it’s still in beta. When it finally does get released it will be priced at $12.49.

Also, do mind the graphics and textures for now. I’ve spoken with the developer and he says that updated textures are on the way.

Oh and as a bonus, the game is available for the PC, Mac and Linux…
