Venus Hostage Brings Out the Big Guns

Indie first person shooters are fun. Maybe not always the best looking, or with the most features, but they often include unusual gameplay or story elements not found amongst the comparatively drab war worlds of Battlefield, Call of Duty or Halo. Not to say those latter games are bad just, rather, tiresome.

Venus Hostage, by Russian developers Mirage Lab, have certainly taken a different spin on at least the story side of their game:

It’s a clear day. Sun rays illuminate the room and fill it with warmth of the end of the summer. In the atmosphere of leisure and peacefulness of the first leaf falls, nothing portends a trouble. But less than an hour passes and you find yourself drawn into the story that shed light on the sinister mysteries of the yards and backstreets — the other side of this once quiet town. What secrets keep those houses with friendly facades and light entrances? – Today you’re going to find that out. And how come you just agreed to a meeting with this mysterious lady?

Yeah, I’m not really sure what it’s about either. Still, the FPS mechanics look solid and the sound track from the trailer seems to be pretty good, of which each purchased game gets a copy of.

All in all there’s not much I can say about Venus Hostage that you probably don’t already know. It looks to be a pretty standard FPS with some racy bits thrown in for good measure.

The game is available right now for $9.95 via the developers website. If this looks like your sort of thing I urge you to check it out via the link below.
