Great news for people with iThings as one of the very best indie games on PC is going to be on iOS very soon. According to developers Vlambeer, the game was submitted to Apple for review a couple days ago which means it’s out of their hands now. For Apple’s part it can take up to a couple weeks to get approved by them so no telling when we’ll see it exactly. Still, this is exciting nonetheless!
Of course, it’s not always easy translating an out and out action platformer like Super Crate Box onto a touch screen control, which was why Vlambeer had originally not planned on an iOS version and why this one took so long.
Originally we were a bit skeptical that Super Crate Box twitch platformer controls would work well on any touch device. After some work we were pretty happy with the controls, but we think Super Crate Box deserves better, so we’ve pushed beyond that a bit: it turns out that tweaking, testing, tweaking, testing, tweaking and testing a lot with complete strangers in the train to work pays off: we feel anyone will be able to pick it up and play
Great news for everybody! And if only they lived in Portland… then maybe I could have played it on the train. Oh well.
We’ll update when Super Crate Box is available. In the mean time, just relax in knowing that it’s coming. And ignore that date up above in the picture. It was originally slated for a September release which was, unfortunately, delayed.
