Well here’s some good news for everybody, or rather everybody who has bought and enjoyed indie action RPG Bastion. It looks like the developers have gone ahead and created some DLC for the game called Stranger’s Dream. With the best part being that it’s free! Or as cheap as they could make it on XBLA… damn Microsoft.
In any case, Stranger’s Dream is set for release for December 14th (this Wednesday). Here’s what it include:
The Stranger’s Dream: a new fully narrated Who Knows Where sequence, bigger and more challenging than the others. You’ll gain a bit more insight into Rucks’ backstory as well as the history of Caelondia if you can survive this fight.
Score Attack Mode: a challenging new way to play through the story! You start at level one with all Spirits and Idols unlocked. Your combat performance is rated for efficiency, and all areas are repeatable.
No-Sweat Mode: for those who just want to experience the story of Bastion, this mode provides unlimited chances to carry on from where you left off if you’re defeated in battle
Additionally, the Steam and XBLA versions will get new leaderboards for the Stranger’s Dream and Score Attack modes.
Now, like I said above, the DLC is free for most of you who bought the game. So if you got the game on Steam it will be automatically updated. Other PC vendors should work in a similar manner.
Now, for those of you who got the game on XBLA. Unfortunately, Microsoft has a policy against giving away stuff for free. As such the Stranger’s Dream DLC on XBLA is going to cost 80 MS Points ($1). Not too much, granted but it’s still a kick in the pants compared to those who get the DLC for free, but at least the guys at Super Giant Games made it as cheap as possible.
