SNOW: CryENGINE 3 Based Skiing and Snowboarding

Pitched as something along the lines of “SKATE, but in the winter” this PC exclusive free to play winter sports sim looks rather exciting to me. It’s the first project from indie start up Poppermost Productions, based in Stockholm, and here’s the details:

Poppermost Productions, a collaboration of indie developers in Stockholm, announced their debut project SNOW today. SNOW is the first true freeride and freestyle game for skiers and snowboarders. Based on the free-to-play model, SNOW looks to reach gamers and skiers worldwide and restart the winter sports genre by taking the player back to basics, and refining scale, physics and controls to capture the majesty of the mountain. In a genre otherwise dominated by unrealistic snowboarding titles with impossible aerial combinations and confined race-track slopes, SNOW will truly capture the unique feeling of riding through powder. SNOW is a game for riders, by riders.

Developed using acclaimed CryENGINE 3 game technology, SNOW will be released for free at its first playable state and then constantly updated using feedback from the community as development continues.

Here’s a teaser trailer they put out a while back. Nice tunes.

I’ll be speaking to Poppermost later to find out more. Could this be the next big thing out of Sweden?
