Oh the jokes we could make with that title! I’m sure Ben or Dan from Size Five Games (formerly Zombie Cow) could certainly think of a few considering their knack for humour (‘u’ added because they’re British!). In reality, however, the title is pretty much exactly what happened…
BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, has officially awarded Size 5’s game Privates the “Learning Secondary” award at the British Academy Children’s Awards last night. Huge congratulations to both Ben and Dan. I always thought Privates deserved more recognition than it got.
For those a bit confused by this, you need to know a bit about the game:
Privates is a platform twin-stick shooter in which you lead a teeny-tiny gang of condom-hatted marines as they delve into peoples’ vaginas and bottoms and blast away at all manner of oozy, shouty monsters. It’s rude, funny, bitingly satirical and technically pretty accurate if you don’t count the tiny people or the germs with teeth.
Believe it or not it’s actually a sex education title made for the UK’s Channel 4, which has commissioned other indie games in the past as well.
So big congratulations to both Ben and Dan from the tiny British studio. It’s fully deserved!
