Niche developer collective Shrapnal Games have discounted a whole load of their games for a Holiday Sale. As of today, you can find all the participating games on this page here. It’s mostly military sims, which I haven’t got a clue about, but there’s some ace titles from Digital Eel reduced, and more.

My personal top picks from the sales are:

Brainpipe: A Plunge to Unhumanity for $4.95/£3.09.
Fabulous weirdo flying down a strange tube simulator, and winner of the 2009 Excellence In Audio IGF award, this game is a lot like a fictional game you might have seen someone playing in the background in a late 80s movie. Your flying down a tube, and you have to dodge the baddies and collect the collectables. That’s about it, but the presentation is brilliant, whether it’s the bizarre eyeball laden menus, or the incomprehensible words that pop up from time to time, or the “wub wub wub” sounds as you slip past the assorted neon enemies, this is a simple, but really well put together game. A steal at that price.

Data Jammers: FastForward, also for $4.95/£3.09.
This only came out last month, so it’s a surprise to see it already discounted to half price, but it means that now is a great time to buy it. This is a fast paced, lane shifting, arcade game, where you career through a wireframe superhighway, dodging between digital traffic and more aggressive enemies. It’s randomised too, so you’ll never play the same level twice. Check out the trailer:

The sale is running until December 20th, but be sure to save a few pennies for the other sales too, it seems every year the digital distribution Christmas sales get bigger, and this is just the start of things too come.
