There’s no such thing as too many dead Orcs. Don’t believe us? See our review! The folks behind the game agree, as yesterday, Robot Entertainment released the second DLC pack for their defensive action game Orcs Must Die offering another five levels (including Nightmare Mode variants), two new enemy types, a new defensive structure and extended leaderboard support. Hit the jump for the trailer, and news of something potentially even cooler for owners of the PC version.
While the Lost Adventures DLC is pretty good value (even if one of the ‘new’ maps is a reversed one from the main campaign) for the asking price of $4 - discounted to $3 on Steam until the 15th - there’s something even cooler tucked away in the code of the latest update to the game. As of now, it’s possible to make your own custom waves of enemies, as documented in this forum thread here. Found 100 Orcs at a time a little too easy? See how you fare against 10,000. Ever wanted to see what an entire map covered in traps looks like? Now you can, as killing all those orcs will bring in no shortage of gold.
The developers do recommend that you show a little restraint, as lesser PCs could easily be crushed by the tsunami of green rage that many players will undoubtedly spawn, but other than that, there’s no real limitations here. Naturally, the online scoreboards are deactivated if you have any modified game files so that players can’t cheat their way to public glory, but that’s only common sense. There’s even word of someone on the official forums working on an easy UI, allowing players to create new challenges without digging into the data files. While this isn’t ‘full’ modding support by any means, it definitely extends the value of the PC version of the game significantly.
