Dino Patti, CEO and co-founder of the Danish indie studio Playdead has taken to twitter to reveal that the lifetime sales of their hit indie platformer, Limbo, has now exceeded one million. Congratulations Playdead!
Having originally released back in July 2010 on XBLA before making it to PSN and PC after a year of Xbox exclusivity, Limbo impressed players with it’s beautiful monochromatic graphics, superb player-character animation and TERRIFYING SPIDER SECTION MAKE IT GO AWAY.
Since release it’s picked up loads of awards (including a nod in DIYgamer’s Editors’ Top Picks 2010), and this is what Mike said when he reviewed it for DIYgamer:
The level of crazy slowly increases throughout, too – without going into too much spoiler material, puzzles are fairly tame to begin with, but eventually rise into the realms of utterly mental. Just when you think the game can’t get anymore twisted, it gives you a firm kick in the groin. There are some real head-scratchers to deal with, yet the action never gets frustratingly difficult, and each moment of enlightenment is sheer bliss.
Playdead are busy working away on their next project, which his still top secret so far, but I think it will be one to look out for.
Update: They have also just dropped news that a Mac port is now on the way, to be released via the Mac App Store “before the end of the year”. More details will be posted on limbogame.org soon.
