First person shooter games are always impressive. They’ve got great graphics and fast, fun gameplay. They also typically require plenty of resources and dev teams in the tens or hundreds to make (see: Modern Warfare). Which is partly why I’m so impressed every time I see a true indie FPS game come out such as SickBrick, by Misfit Villager.
Those of you who are expecting the latest, greatest graphics probably would do better to look elsewhere than Sick Brick as it simply can’t compete. That said, if you’re a little more lenient I think most of us will find that the game more than meets the minimum. Some textures might be lacking, but the game as a whole looks pretty damn good.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much of a story, or, at least, none that I can find without playing the game first. In fact the official description simply says:
SickBrick is an action-oriented Sci-Fi FPS with modern graphics and oldschool gameplay.
Take that for what you will. Still, the trailer is impressive and the game is pretty cheap at only $7.99.
SickBrick is out now for PC, Mac and Linux (although the latter is through a Wine wrapper). You can get it via the link below.
