Probably the Only Game of Golf I’ll Ever Play: Metagolf

I’m not a big fan of golf. In fact, you could go as far as to say that I’m a non-fan (harsh words, I know). I just don’t see the appeal. Switch a club, hit a small ball and hope it lands somewhere near an almost equally small hole. It’s very quiet and there’s not much physical activity (from what I can tell).

That said, I’m not opposed to playing certain eccentric versions of the sport like of the mini variety or a video game! The latter of which is something I’d like to discuss with you right now as I’ve recently been clued in on a platforming/golf hybrid game called Metagolf.

Metagolf is a mini-golf game with multiple challenges. Up to 4 players can compete on the same screen, sharing the same golf ball and the same goals. Team up for loads of fun with friends or play alone to improve the accuracy of your swing across 3 different platforms.

The game looks to be more focused on the action strategy part of mini golf than, well, the golfing part which is probably draws me in. That and the general look and feel of the game is quite pleasant!

Also worth noting is that the game comes with a built-in level editor that allows you to create, share and download new courses with other Metagolfers.

The game is available right now for free in a beta form, there’s no current release date for the full version. It’s also available for PC, Mac or Linux so there should be no barriers to entry dependent on your OS of choice. Check it out via the link/video below.
