Exiles of Chiron: A Free, Multiplayer SHMUP

It amazes me what some people will release for free these days in the game space. Not to say that it’s bad or anything like that, I’m just surprised is all! The latest example I have is Exiles of Chiron, a free to play top-down shmup that features 5v5 online competitive play.

Here’s a more specific description:

Exiles of Chiron is a multiplayer top down spaceship shooter with customizable ships, weapons, hulls and shields. The game is fast paced and games typically last between 10-20 minutes. Currently we have 6 unique ships in the game and are working hard to add more. The game is currently in alpha, meaning it’s playable but we’re still adding new features.

The game logic lives 100% server side to prevent exploits and ensure a enjoyable playing experience.

According to the developers the game will have an extensive level system to allow for bigger and better upgrades. In a way the game almost reminds me of a small version of Silent Death Online, an MMO-ish game released by Mythis around a decade ago. It’s something that I definitely have a place in my heart for.

Exiles of Chiron is currently in Alpha and the developers are looking for a smidge of help via Kickstarter. If you do decide to contribute to their campaign you can actually join the Alpha right now so you won’t have to wait until release to play it.
