Desura Linux Game Client Now Available

Whoa there? Linux as an actual, factual gaming platform? What kind of space aged, year 3000 world do we live in? The answer to that is an awesome one. Linux users today now have one awesome choice for gaming on their OS of choice and that option is Desura, the indie Steam-like alternative digital distribution service.

For those that actually use Linux this should come as a ray of hope for the future of gaming on your preferred OS. While not every game will be naturally ported to the platform at least you can now have an active store with new games that work natively in your client. And by “natively” I mean no WINE! Huzzah!

Scott Reismanis, founder of Desura had this to say:

Linux users were continually reaching out to us offering their support and encouragement as we developed the Linux client. I believe we have created a robust tool to help promote and grow gaming on Linux. After an extensive 2 month beta, we are proud to unlock Desura for all Linux users and shift our attention towards adding to the more than 65 Linux games already offered.

65 games ready and waiting for you guys. Surely, no matter how picky of a gamer you are, you can find something to find and play, right?

Up above is a screenshot of the new Linux version. Those of you who have seen and used the PC version will notice that it looks pretty much the same.

Enjoy!
