Not too long ago, we reviewed the Creeper World games and found them to be more than a little nifty. Unfortunately, the series has been relatively unknown up til’ this point, despite bringing a lot of very clever and unique elements to the Tower Defense concept and salvaging a lot of the core concepts from obscure Russian RTS Perimeter. That changed last week, with the release of Creeper World: Evermore.
Essentially, CW: Evermore is the procedurally-generated Conquest mode from the original Creeper World, stripped out, repurposed and give new life as a survival score-attack challenge. Every day (and with an archive of the previous six days) a new level is randomly generated and added to the game for you to challenge, and your score across multiple sessions is tracked.
You have a time limit of 60 minutes to complete each level, but if you go over that time, it automatically switches into Survival mode, where you no longer have any hope of escape but can rack up a high score by holding out as long as possible. You can trigger Survival earlier if you want to launch straight into that challenge, though.
If you want to dig deeper into the Creeper World series, read our review and consider grabbing the double-pack, but for newcomers and casual players alike, this ever-expanding excerpt is well worth your time and attention. There’s a literal eternity of hateful corrosive alien oceans to beat up now. Hop to it.
