All Out Race 2: Pi Appropriately Priced at 3.14

Sylvain Seccia has released the follow up to his 2004 tube racer, All Out Race. The sequel, All Out Race 2: Pi, aptly costs 3.14 Euro and is a 3D racing arcade game, a platform game, a puzzle game and a first-person shooting game for Windows platforms. As players travel through ancient Egypt, medieval and sci-fi worlds, they unlock the mysteries of the Pi number. Players shoot enemies, dodge death traps and collect jewels while speeding through the stage.

Interestingly, All Out Race 2: Pi was made with DirectX9 in C++ only; Sylvain made the 3D engine himself. The title boasts a slew of features:

  • 20 levels to succeed: 12 classic levels and 8 racing levels
  • One more level for the Boss
  • 3 difficulty modes
  • Record your best times
  • Online Hi-Scores with a ghost mode
  • Original instrumental metal tracks
  • Add your own music files
  • Keyboard and Joystick supported
  • Force Feedback supported for Xbox 360 Controller
  • Shader Model v3.0 (DirectX 9)
  • Max Resolution: 1920 x 1080

A boss battle appears to be a versus race against an object much bigger and more resourceful than one’s own character. However, with enough wits and maneuvering the boss in the video below appears to finally get beaten in the race and ran over by a giant iron ball of oppression (gratuitous naming by me).

The full unlocking of the game is a little bit tedious, but full-proof to avoid the need for refunds. First, players download the 40MB demo version for free and test it with their computers. Then users can buy a registration code with Paypal for just €3.14.

Grab the demo here, and if interested, read the full unlocking directions here.
