Wow! It always amazes me how, no matter how much searching I do day in, day out for awesome indie games to write about, some of the most impressive can still slip right under my radar. It’s almost a shame, but then I get giddy at the fact that there are so many indie developers out there that such a problem can persist.
Today’s awesome indie find comes by way of Kotaku (I know! They barely even register indie games at all!) so kudos to them for that.
The game is called Gunpoint and, as the title and screenshots show this game looks very reminiscent of Canabalt but with a noir feel. Essentially you play as a secret agent who is attempting to complete missions by sneaking into places, disposing of security, and reqire the building security, which I believe is one of the most important parts of the game.
Here’s a bit about that from the developer:
Crosslink mode is what you switch to to rewire the electronic bits of a building: you can see what everything’s hooked up to, and drag these connections around to make the level work the way you want it to.
Also it sounds like the game is going to be pretty damned challenging!
Everyone in Gunpoint dies in one gunshot – even you – and the guards are extremely accurate. A good plan doesn’t involve giving them the chance to shoot at you. This – this was a bad plan.
Needless to say I’m very excited for this game. So much so I’ve already petitioned one of the developers Tim Francis (who happens to write for PC Gamer) about letting me get in on the next prototype, which you can do as well! Just follow the link below!
The game is planned to be free (awesome!) for the PC and will hopefully be out by Christmas.
