Full Control has announced the release of a new update for its refreshing iOS turn-based strategy title Tactical Soldier: Undead Rising, available now for both iPhone and iPad owners. This is no ordinary patch though, it somehow takes care of the present while still having vision for the future.
“The hell?” you say? Well let me tell you. The update brings a new hardcore difficulty for masochists and others looking for a staggering challenge. It also packs prep work for a new campaign the silver-tongued team is calling campaign 2, which is set to arrive sometime later this summer. Additionally, the patch adds more varied zombies as well as other various tweaks and bug fixes.
I actually had the pleasure of meeting Full Control Co-founder Thomas Lund who flew in from Sweden to my neck of the woods for E3 in June (full profile/interview on the way.) He told me despite the $5 price point–perceived as high on the app/XBLIG hubs–the game has been the most successful project to date for the developer. The quality and depth apparently shines through to people.
This would also point to a growth in the hardcore audience in the iOS space. Some very cool things happening as developers continue to create and further understand how to create fun experiences of all kinds on these portable devices. Gah, getting off on a bit of a tangent.
