Oozi: Earth Adventure Prepares to Delight on Xbox Live Indie Games

Oozi_01

I like platformers. No secret about it. Of any and all other genres, I think that my knack for playing platformer is far greater. They’re simple, easy to play, and can differ so wildly that one platformer doesn’t necessarily have to play like any other platformer. Games like Braid and Super Mario Bros. are vastly different from each other but maintain that overall sense of pure mindless enjoyment… well maybe not quite so mindless when considering Braid, but that’s beside the point.

Anyway, where I’m getting to with all this is a new delightful Xbox Live Indie Game that has been shown to me care of the developer Ribel, it is, as I’ve written about above a simplistic platformer that hearkens back to the age old formula set by Super Mario Bros.

Of course, what really drew me into the game was the artistic stylings which offer a colorful blend of colors and a unique, almost adorable, character. When considering Xbox Live Indie Games these days, even with the advances made in this past year, I don’t tend to think of them as being colorful, pretty, or “adorable” when it comes to graphics.

Anyway, the first episode of Oozi: Earth Adventure will be available at the end of February for the low, low price of 80 MS points ($1). Until then you’ll just have to enjoy this trailer:

That image reminds me very much of Rayman for some reason.

Seeing as how we were teased with Rayman Origins last year with no updates, I’ll gladly take this colorful platforming alternative!
