Studying Abroad: Magnuson’s Game Trekking 100% Funded

Game_Trekking_Funded

When indie aficionado and developer Jordan Magnuson announced his vision to travel the world and make games based on the experiences in his journey, I was charmed by the idea. Donating is something I always tell myself to do more of, and I thought it a good idea to put down a small donation in DIYGamer’s name.

At the time I didn’t know if the minor offering would be enough alongside some of the much more generous donations already contributed to reach the $5,000 target, but today–with the October 1 deadline looming–I received some great news in the inbox: Game Trekking is 100% funded.

With the first phase of his trip financially covered, Magnuson plans to carry out his promise of creating 10-15 open source games that will be made available to everyone for free on PC, Mac and Linux. Currently, the KickStarter page is still taking donations through its original end date of October 1, with Magnuson stating “any further contributions will just mean that I can go a little bit further, and make more games.”

Head over and bookmark GameTrekking’s game page, with four previously released games available right away to check out and play based on experiences in the Middle East and Korea. You can also read up on the specifics of his travel plans here.

Congrats and good luck to Jordan on the undertaking, we’ll be looking forward to playing the games and getting updates on his six month voyage.
