I love the Xbox Live Indie Games channel. Anybody who reads this site even remotely can probably attest to that. However, I make to qualms about the graphical quality of many of these games. While the gameplay is usually solid — in my favorite games — the graphical prowess in even the best looking XBLIG titles often falls short of what we expect from traditional Xbox 360 and PS3 caliber games. Solar Struggle aims to change that…
Solar Struggle is a game that was originally revealed in 2008, but completely disappeared off the radar shortly after. Now, in conjunction with redspotgames, Z-Software is planning on releasing the graphics intensive space shooter in August to the Xbox Live Indie Games channel.
Now, while I’ve yet to actually play the game, I will say that the trailer is pretty impressive. Not only to the graphics look sound, bt the gameplay really reminds me of the old Tie Fighter games for the PC. Let’s hope I’m not building this game up to epic proportions that it can’t live up to…
The game comes with nine different space ships, 36 different awards (achievements), and a skirmish mode where the player has to defend his space ships from waves of enemies, all on top of the traditional story mode of course. As we get closer to release more information will be released.
Solar Struggle is easily one of the more ambitious games to get a release onto the XBLIG channel, and if successful, I’m sure we can all hope for/anticipate more quality games like it coming to the channel in the future.
