In Search of International Inspiration: Game Trekking

game_trekkingJordan Magnuson (original founder of TIGSource) has unveiled his plans for Game Trekking, a new travel documentary project that hopes to see him roaming the globe and making games at the same time based on his experiences. The undertaking is currently seeking donations.

The first phase of the five-month plan is to tour several countries in South East Asia, creating and developing an average of two games for each country he visits. If support is available the tour will continue through Russian, Europe and down into Africa if he can get that far. All of the games made during the trek will be released for free on the Game Trekking site, will be open source and can be downloaded by everyone regardless of whether they’re a backer or not.

If this sounds like a worthwhile project, consider a contribution of some munnies; as without it, the project may never get off the ground. Jordan has set-up a Kickstarter project for those interested in backing, with a myriad of (optional) rewards being offered for different levels of financial support. Donations can be as small as a dollar and note that if you do decide to become a backer, you’ll only be charged if the project receives its proper funding ($5,000) by the deadline of October 1.

Tim W of IndieGames has some words on why any active TIGSource forum member should certainly consider helping out. Check out the Game Trekking intro video below.
