Fridays. Who wants to work on a Friday, right? I know I don’t. In fact, as I am writing this I have the beginnings of the Ghana vs. Uruguay match streaming to my left. But, unfortunately it’s not the weekend yet so, like you, I’ve gotta work as well. Luckily for me, however, my work consists of playing games and writing about them, as I am doing now for GunGirl 2, a remarkable (free!) Metroidvania.
Now I haven’t played this game too much just yet, hence why this is not a review. But what I have played is really good. Up there with the likes of some of my favorite free plays thus far this year.
GunGirl 2 is, as mentioned in the title, a Metroidvania. It has all the characteristics like an open map, exploration, multiple items/weapons, and a non-linear story. So if you like Metroidvanias in general, then it goes without saying that you’ll probably enjoy this game as well.
Beyond that, however, GunGirl 2 is a game that’s comparable to some of the best action platformers out there, regardless. It mixes in solid platforming gameplay, along with a world that’s infested with zombies and it’s up to you, as either GunGirl or GunDude to help rid the planet of the menacing creatures.
Needless to say, for me at least, I had already been sold on the game at the mere mention of a Metroidvania with zombies, as I’m sure many of you were as well. I mean, who can resist?
Anyways, I don’t want to get too in depth with the gameplay since I haven’t actually played that much of it yet. Regardless, based on it’s current price of nothing, I have trouble not recommending this game right off the bat. I’ll see about getting a more formal review up later next week.
