Popular Indie RPG Rainblood: Town of Death Gets an English Translation/Release

Rainblood000One of the most popular indie RPGs in China has now made it’s way across the Pacific and into eager North America’s waiting hands. That RPG being, of course, Rainblood: Town of Death.

For those that don’t know, Rainblood is a beautifully hand drawn RPG experience that takes the player to a small but once-popular town called Pang which was suddenly gripped by plague when a man dressed in black arrived. The story then twists and turns into one that’s largely too complex for a mere paragraph description here in this blog post. Feel free to read more about the story on the game’s website.

Anyway, the game still looks to be full of retro- JRPG goodness as the battles remind me heavily of the old SNES era RPG games with your player standing to the right and the enemies all on the left.

And, believe it or not, the game was made using RPGmaker. Yep, the infamous RPGmaker that every aspiring game designer uses once and then throws away in contempt at it’s frustrating control system and limiting options. Well, it appears that we just weren’t using it the right way, because somebody seems to have made a halfway decent game out of it.

Well, that’s really all I’ve got on the game as I haven’t actually played it yet. But there is a free demo available to those who want to try it, and, if enticed enough, you can buy the full game for $9.99.

If you do pick it up, let us know how it is in the comments or our forum.
