Words can’t describe how “right” this feels. For a long time, one of my very favorite “dollar” games has been relinquished to only being on my TV. Now, there’s no doubt that when I’m at home, I’d much prefer to play The Impossible Game on my television with the big screen and improved audio. However, much like Canabalt before it, when I’m mobile this seems like the absolute most perfect game to play in the few minutes between train stops.
For those that don’t know, The Impossible Game is a very simple Xbox Live Indie Game where you simply must avoid hitting any obstacles. The game is very hard and, through my hours of attempts, I’ve yet to make it to the end. If you hit even a single object you’ve gotta start over. It’s challenging, it’s addictive, and it was one of my top 10 XBLIGs for a buck.
Now that it has successfully landed on the App Store, I can definitely see this game reaching a much larger audience and becoming incredibly successful. Rightly so too, because at it’s $0.99 price point there’s little to not enjoy with this game.
Canabalt fans, be warned, this game will fight for your precious mobile gaming time.

UPDATE: Just bought it and played it for the last 15 minutes. It’s definitely a good rendition of the XBLIG title of the same name. Adapts really well to the iPod Touch’s screen. Also, there’s a practice mode. I don’t recall that being in the XBLIG version, but it certainly makes things a bit easier and not as frustrating. Still plenty of fun to go around though.
