Android’s Best Looking Game is an Indie Game

exzeus-shotsThere seems to be a lot of contention when it comes to games on Android. Some people complain about the lack of multi-touch, other say the graphics are terrible. Even certain companies seem to dislike Android for the low buy-rates. And then, even still, others seem to trash the service as being too small in comparison to the iPhone app store.

But that hasn’t stopped one developer from making what I dare claim as the best looking Android game to date, surpassing everything that all the mainstream companies have released thus far.

Little known Japanese developer, HyperDevbox, has created a new mech game called ExZeus that acts a lot like the old top-down shooters of yesteryear. While the verdict may yet be out on whether the game is any fun (although it has a good rating as of this post) it’s hard to deny that the game’s graphics are top-notch, matching even the top iPhone games and some PSP games.

Of course, this game isn’t available to just anybody. In order to take advantage of ExZeus’ pulse-pounding graphics and sound you’ll need to have an “elite” Android phone. That means, if you’re in America, your stuck with either a Nexus One or a Droid. All other phones fall well below the required horsepower needed to drive this thing.

Interested gamers should check out the Android Marketplace for more details. The game currently costs 350 yen (about $4).

I’m not sure whether this is technically an indie game or not, but it’s been available for a number of different platforms, including a couple of different arcade incarnations and on the Wii (as “Counter Force.”)
