MStar Games Announces Puzzle-Racer ‘Blazin’ Balls’ for XBLIG

BB1I don’t know what sounds weirder, the fact that MStar Games (the same guys who brought you Space Pirates From Tomorrow and Carrum) has announced an upcoming 3D puzzle-racer–which is an odd combination of sorts–or that the title of said game is Blazin’ Balls. Immaturity aside, however, MStar believes the game will appeal to “fans of simple, direct ‘challenge’ games.” This means Blazin’ Balls comes in stark contrast to the complexity of MStar’s Space Pirates From Tomorrow, which boasted thousands of hours worth of gameplay.

Here’s MStar’s explanation of how the game works:

“Players must pick their path along a space-borne road comprised of various colored block avoiding gaps, collecting coins and trying to beat the target time for each level. The colored blocks effect your ball in various ways, with some slowing you down, some speeding you up, others making you bounce and a couple of other effects which will intrigue and infuriate gamers in equal measure.”

Blazin’ Balls will be released sometime in March on the XBOX Live Indie Games platform. It will cost 80 Microsoft Points ($1). For some gameplay screenshots (unfortunately no video as of yet) and more explanation of gameplay mechanics, check out the game’s website.
