Earlier this month, we mentioned the Organic Indie Preorder Pack; a pre-order bundle for Unknown Worlds’ Natural Selection 2 Special Edition and developer Wolfire Games’ Overgrowth that essentially discounted the titles into a buy one, get one free deal. Well apparently things went better than expected as Wolfire has released some info about the sale.
The dev notes that the sale achieved better results than expected, with more pre-orders sold during the sale week than in the entirety of the previous year. With no digital distributor involved, all of the proceeds were split evenly between Wolfire and Unknown Worlds.
Sales for the bundle were steady throughout the promotion and spiked as the offer drew to a close. The dev reports that 1,658 packs were sold, totaling “almost exactly one year’s worth of preorder revenue, in a single week.” In a bit of a surprise, the bundle didn’t have a negative effect on standard preorders, which were described as significantly up; Valve has pointed to this interesting trend in the past for certain game and bundle sales on Steam as well.
