After a long wait, Darwinia+ will finally be showing up on home consoles Feb. 10. Way back in 2006, Introversion Software intended to do a simple port of IGF-award-winner Darwinia for the Live Arcade service. In this video, CEO Mark Morris says Microsoft asked for multiplayer, and rather than just tack another mode onto the existing game, Introversion created Multiwinia, a similar but separate game.
Darwinia+ put the single-player Darwinia and the multiplayer Multiwinia into one package. So next month, Xbox 360 owners will be able to play both games for $15 (1200 MS points), about what you’d pay for both games on Steam. During the port, Introversion says they did more than just re-work the controls and user interface system; they tweaked and tuned the components and visuals, calling the Xbox Live Arcade port a “Director’s Cut.”
