In just five days from January 29 to 31, the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) will host 2010′s Global Game Jam which now contains 127 venues in total. The GGJ is a global experiment in creativity. In only two days, teams of developers will attempt to create games under certain restrictions and rules that apply to everybody. They will have very little sleep, cramped areas, and technical issues but at the same time they will have room for experimentation, laughter, collaboration, and the development of some awesome ideas. The goal is to have professional developers, students, and hobbyists banding together and achieve IGDA’s official mission statement: “Connecting members with their peers & promoting professional development.”
36 countries around the world will be involved in the Global Game Jam, including: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, UK, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania , Mexico , The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, USA, Venezuela and Colombia.
