Spelunky received its first major update since the game came out of beta in September. Derek Yu compiled it in the newest version of Game Maker, which should fix some bugs common to all games built in earlier versions of that program, and fixed all sorts of other lingering bugs. Plus the game keeps track of more stats, so perhaps my high percentage of golden idol conversions pain of looking at an ever increasing death count and an ever static win count.
But the biggest news is that he released the games source code, which I assume means we can expect ports to other operating systems, or at the very least clever mods from some industrious individuals in the near future.
Download the game or the source code here, and look at what’s been changed here.
