Glenn Corpes promised a lot when he announced Ground Effect for the iPhone/iPod Touch, an arcade racer set in a detailed landscape. He went to great lengths to shrink the game in order to fit under the 10MB mark. Then came the statements of upcoming updates and I don’t think anyone saw it coming the way it did. Ground Effect has encountered some massive changes, most notably the ability to play the game in full stereoscopic 3D. What that means is if you have 3D glasses, prepare to enjoy the shit out of Ground Effect.
Corpes also updated the framerate so the game runs smoothly and remains visually pleasing regardless of whether you have 3D glasses. Here’s a full breakdown of the update as well as a trailer showing you the new features:
• Anaglyph stereo 3D option
• Driver/1st person camera view
• Free-play practice levels
• Control sensitivity adjustment
• Re-designed user interface
• Faster running speed
• Smoother animation – up to 60 FPS on iPhone 3GS
• Easier access to user’s iPod
