Three down, three more to go as Soldak Entertainment dropped us an email today informing us that they’ve announced their third class in their upcoming Diablo-like: Din’s Curse. That class being the Wizard, of course.
A mainstay in the fantasy RPG games of the world, the Wizard is no slouch when it comes to dealing out the damage. using spells focused around fire, ice, and the arcane.
Of course, it’s not the primary class we care about, but rather the specialty classes that we’ve grown accustomed to in these announcements. So for all you magic-loving gamers out there, here’s the 3 additional sub-classes of the Wizard.
1. Fire Mage
Fairly typical of what you’d expect out of any magic-based class. Fire has been a mainstay in the arms of wizards since the entire concept was invented. Gandalf used it, Merlin used it, and now so can you when you play as one in Din’s Curse. Here’s the skill break down
- Fery Blast – Attack your enemies with fire.
- Fireball – Deal fire damage to multiple enemies within range with this explosion.
- Sweeping Flames – This cone-shaped fire attack burns anything in its path.
- Immolation – Boil your victims from within with lingering fire damage.
- Shield of Fire – Protects you from fire damage as well as burning enemies who hit you for a while.
- Flame Blade – Enchants flames onto your weapon adding gobs of fire damage for a time.
- Fire Elemental – Creates a Fire Elemental (only can control one at a time). Each skill level increases the fire elemental level by 1.
- Volcano – Bring forth a surge of lava from the ground. Great fire damage occurs over 5 seconds.
- Fire Maelstrom – A huge, swirling fire of death traps enemies and hurts them. Large amounts of fire damage occurs over 5 seconds.
- Fire Mastery – Enhances the following fire skills: Fiery Blast, Fireball, Sweeping Flames, Immolation, Volcano, and Fire Maelstrom
2. Ice Mage
Again, just as typical as the Fire Mage. What self-respecting magic user do you know that would be caught without some use of the frozen arts? Exactly… none. Once again here’s the skill set:
- Arctic Shard – Attack your enemies with ice.
- Frost Nova – Ring of ice blasts around you, damaging multiple enemies.
- Ice Storm – Creates a storm of damaging hail. Great ice damage occurs over 5 seconds.
- Concentration – Regenerate mana more quickly.
- Ice Armor – Ice protects you like armor and increases your cold resistance for a while.
- Frost Bite – Weakens your target’s resistance for a short period.
- Ice Prison – Freezes an enemy solid for a time. The enemy can do nothing but also cannot be damaged.
- Permafrost – This doesn’t cause any damage, but it has a nasty slow down effect.
- Shatter – If your victim dies from this massive cold damage, they’ll become a grenade\nand explode, hurting enemies nearby.
- Cold Mastery – Enhances the following cold skills: Arctic Shard, Frost Nova, Ice Storm, Frost Bite, Ice Prison, Permafrost, and Shatter
3. Magician
This type of mage is a bit different than the others, but still not entirely uncommon. The Magician is otherwise called “Arcane Mage” in other lore and video games. As such, I’m sure you can expect plenty of purply flying swishes and swooshes to decimate your enemies with. Once again, the skillset:
- Blinding Flash – Blinds all nearby enemies for a moment.
- Armor Melt – Damages enemy’s armor making them easier to hit.
- Magic Shield – This magical shield absorbs all damage until the max damage is absorbed or the spell time ends.
- Deep Thought – Increases your max mana.
- Arcane Focus – Increases chances of dealing critical hits and crushing blows from your magic for a moment.
- Evasion – Improves your ability to evade an attack.
- Teleport – Teleports you to the selected location (where your mouse cursor is pointing to).
- Arcane Blast – This attack causes magic damage.
- Arcane Swarm – Multiple magical energy bolts choose random targets.
- Arcane Drain – Drains an enemy’s health for a moment.
Enjoy the update, we got three more to go. Now that the three primary classes are out of the way (Warrior, Wizard, Ranger) perhaps we can get to some that are a bit more exciting. I’m sure at least one will be a “Rogue” class, but what about the others? Anybody care to hazard a guess?
