• Out of the Frying Pan… Radiangames Inferno [Review]

Radiangames continues its beautiful shooter series on Xbox Live Indie Games with the third release in the series, Inferno. We loved the first release JoyJoy, but weren’t too keen on the follow-up Crossfire… so the great news is that Inferno is pretty much a maze-orientated version of JoyJoy.
With some great level design, gorgeous visuals and [...]

Well, mark this down as one of the fastest introductory articles to preview turn arounds ever in DIYgamer.com history. • So We’ve Got This Thing Called a Forum…

So get this, true story, there are these things all around the world wide web (the internets!) that are called forums. They’re termed after the ancient Roman political conferences where all the senators would gather in a “forum” to discuss issues regarding their society and laws. As it turns out, the internet has taken this [...]

  • KabloomThis weekend’s freeplay game is a bit different than most. It was created by the fine students at DigiPen — love those guys! — and is definitely more focused around relaxing gameplay than action. But that’s fine because it’s a pretty neat gem of a game regardless.

In Kabloom you play as an elephant named Rosie whose primary goal is to restore life back to a series of desolate flying islands. You do this by planting seeds and growing the trees using water. Once a tree is large enough it will, hopefully, drop a fruit. The goal of the game is not only to plant trees but to also get the fruit of life which will turn all of the islands into wondrous gardens.

The game plays as a sort of mini-adventure game where in you can explore all around the islands, bouncing back and forth and planting trees as you go. There’s no right or wrong way to go. You can plant ten trees on the primary island or you can plant trees on every single island available. Like I said above, it’s a very relaxing game with no real consequences, just a simple goal and a world in which to complete that goal.

While the game really only lasts about 15-20 minutes it’s still one of the better free games I’ve played. Sure, many people may not enjoy this type of game specifically, seeing as how there are no guns or any sort of action, but others will certainly find planting and growing trees to be a welcome relief. It’s an unconventional game to say the least, but it does what it does very well and, at the end of the day, it’s actually really enjoyable.

I totally agree. Wow, with the declaration of more troops tonight isn’t it amazing that someone out there is thinking about life. Rather than kaboom! we have Kabloom! Maybe there is a deeper message?
