DIY Spotlight: Attack of the 50ft Robot

God bless those students over at the DigiPen Institute of Technology. They are always creating the most delightful games. First, a few of them made an awesome escape-type game called Igneous, where in, you play as a Tiki trying to outrun various elemental disasters, like a lava flow. It was a a great little game that provided a lot of gameplay in a small package. Now, however, some other students have released a game that really hits home with me. They’ve combined my love of B-movies, giant robots, and ultimate destruction into one brilliant masterpiece.
Attack of the 50ft Robot — yes, that’s the name of the game — is a simple concept. You are a 50ft robot, obviously, and you are placed in a city to destroy… everything. The only thing standing in your way is some pissant military types trying to ruin your parade. Everything is destructible; signs, military forces, skyscrapers and the game gives you a host of weapons to make easy work out of whatever’s standing in your way.
The best part about all this; it’s free, available right now, and won’t take forever to download. If you at all like giant robots, sandbox carnage, B-movies, or any awesome combination of those things then go download this game right now. You’ll thank me later…
Oh and for any DigiPen students out there… keep up the great work. Seriously, the bar is only getting higher.
